Women’s Worlds time!
Teams have arrived to Calgary for the long-awaited 2021 Women’s Worlds. Unlike the Olympics, the Worlds have called the 2020 tournament an L and will title the Calgary event the 2021 Worlds (2020 was cancelled because of COVID-19). However, because of ‘Rona, Canada got to remain hosts (Russia was set to host 2021 Worlds).
It has been a journey to get this tournament underway, and with the Delta Variant creeping around (and being depicted in hilarious ways on social media), we really can’t celebrate until everyone gets back home COVID-free.
Here is a quick update on Worlds:
-
Finland hosted in 2019 and took home silver (oh, more on this)
-
Canada took bronze
-
The United States won gold in DRAMATIC fashion
-
2020 Worlds was cancelled, rescheduled, then cancelled AGAIN!
-
Now, teams are in Calgary ahead of the preliminary round starting
The United States opens against Switzerland on Friday, August 20th. Canada will take on Finland.
Here is the full schedule!
